![]() I've managed to recreate it on every HDMI port using the ATV, but I cannot recreate the same thing using any other device. Like many of you, my theory is that something is wrong on the ATV side, or perhaps something is odd about how the ATV and LG communicate (although this seems unlikely to me). Switching everything back (ATV -> HDMI 1, Switch -> HDMI 2) resulted in the stuttering occurring on the ATV and not on the Switch. ![]() I then (without restarting) plugged the AppleTV 4K into HDMI 2 (where the Switch was), and the stuttering on the ATV was gone. The stuttering was still there on the Switch. I caused the stuttering (Disney+ with Hamilton), unplugged the AppleTV 4K from the input (HDMI 1), then plugged in my Nintendo Switch to the same input. I was also able to force it to work on other devices on the same HDMI input. It happens intermittently with some apps (e.g., the Movies app), but I can recreate it every time with Disney+. Really useful post and thread, thanks for starting it. So it could just be an Atmos issue, but seems like specifically it could be a LG CX + ATV issue too. Just to be clear, I never had these issues with my previous TV. Finally, I just played the West Wing on Netflix which is definitely not 4K or Atmos and that fixed it! Thank you so much! I restarted the TV several times, tried quitting every app, forgetting the WiFi network, switching to the 2.4 GHz only band, and finally updating to tvOS 14. When I switched to listening to music, I got constant stuttering like someone was hitting play/pause every second. Then I watched some Apple TV+ content which I guess is 4K and supports Atmos. I had been watching Netflix and playing music on the TV just fine. I don’t have a crazy home theater setup, my audio gear is primarily for music. The DAC outputs stereo RCA to my receiver (an old 80s Onkyo) which then goes to my several speakers. I have the LG CX set to optical only output over a Toslink cable to a Schiit Modius DAC. All the audio settings are default on the ATV. I have an LG CX OLED connected via HDMI to the Apple TV 4K. I’m convinced it is an Apple TV 4K issue + Dolby Atmos (maybe + LG CX). Thank you so much! Your suggestion totally fixed it. So who knows what will happen, eARC is supposed to be able to handle all of this Atmos data and everything I own natively supports Atmos so it’ll be an interesting test. Using the internal speakers of the LG TV produced the stutters when playing Atmos content from the ATV. My next test is I’m going to plug my ATV directly into my LG Sound Bar and see if the Sound Bar handles the Atmos data any differently. My focus keeps going back to the way AppleTV 4K transmits the Atmos data to the LG CX. None of the native LG webOS apps have produced the audio stutters after playing Atmos content. Play some content without Atmos in the same app and it fixes the problem. The reason I was experimenting with Disney+ the most is because I’m trying to limit the variables and see if it narrows down the main cause. It only has Dolby 5.1 support and it did not produce the audio stutters after leaving the app and going to an ATV app like YouTube or Twitch. I’ve also tried playing Dolby Vision content in the ATV Disney+ app without Dolby Atmos, for example Pirate of the Caribbean Dead Man’s Chest. Put it back to the highest setting “Automatic” and it came back. New things I’ve tried: I actually went into the ATV Disney+ app settings and lowered the quality settings to “Moderate” and the problem went away. ![]() That was also when I swapped all my cables for HDMI 48Gbps cables and I’m still reproducing the problem the same way, every time. My first ATV 4K was still within the return period because it was basically brand new. I started a return online with Apple and then bought a new one so that I could swap my AppleTV 4K quickly. ![]() That was my initial thought, maybe the issue was with 18Gbps HDMI cables or hardware issue with the AppleTV 4K.
